Jill graduated from Central Dauphin East High school where she played the flute and was the band president.
Jill volunteered frequently at Paxtonia elementary school at class parties and events. She was also choir president (Mom) at Central Dauphin High School for eight years. She was involved in track boosters at Central Dauphin and was always there to make sure that everything ran smoothly and there were plenty of cookies and smiles.
In February, 2008, Jill acquired the ceramics painting studio Color Me Mine after working there for two years. Here, she truly enjoyed the happiness that she could bring to people through teaching them the art of painting ceramics. Her presence in the studio will be sorely missed.
Jill loved cooking, knitting, scrapbooking, painting, quilting, music, track, and traveling.
Her most treasured occupation was as a mother. She is survived by her three sons Ross, Ryan, and Evan, her parents Russell and Phyllis Hess, her brothers David and Dale, a large extended family, as well as the countless other people that she has taken care of over the years. She is also survived by her husband and companion of 28 years Kent.
Through her work volunteering at Central Dauphin High School Jill has touched the lives of countless young people. She bettered the lives of many of the men and women to whom she was given charge over the years. It didn’t matter if they were hers or not, they were mothered.
The community has lost one of its most caring and compassionate members in Jill Whiting. She was an amazing woman who always put others before herself. Jill was an excellent friend, daughter, wife, and mother. She will be sorely missed.
